The research team on optical frequency comb and its application led by Haifeng JIANG, a researcher from the Key Lab. of Time & Frequency Primary Standards, CAS, made a breakthrough with the support of a number of fund projects and with the concerted efforts of all team members. The research team has successfully developed China’s first optical frequency comb system with intracavity Electro-Optic Modulator which enables fast repetition rate control, and the preliminary result was published on the journal of Chinese physics B.

After optimization, the system achieves a leading level in China in frequency control stability, SNR of carrier-envelop-offset frequency detection, bandwidth of repetition rate control and continuous locking time. Especially with respect to frequency control stability, which is the most important parameter in time & frequency metrology, the system can fully meet the requirements of optical clock development and application, as the in-loop frequency stability is about 1E-16 at second and low E-20 at 10,000 second and the continuous operation time is more than one week.
