Professor Kurt Gibble of the Pennsylvania State University Visits the National Time Service Center

On Mar. 10, 2010, Professor Kurt Gibble of the Department of Physics of the Pennsylvania State University visited the NTSC for academic exchange at the invitation of researcher Zhang Shougang of NTSC.

Professor Kurt Gibble is an international famous atomic and molecular physicist and atomic clock expert, as well as a fellow of American Physical Society and vice chairman of IEEE Frequency Control and Ultrasound Branch.

He gave an academic report on Physics with Atomic Clocks in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of NTSC’s Scientific Research Building to relevant scientific research personnel. In this report, he expounded microwave photon change and cold atomic collision involved in improving the precision of fountain and atomic clocks by 100 times, and introduced the latest research results of himself.
