Professor Huang Guilong, a noted expert at optical frequency standards from the NPL, paid a 6-day visit to the NTSC at invitation from June 25 to 30, when he inspected the Quantum Frequency Standards Lab, and spoke highly of the fruits in lab establishment and scientific research obtained by the Group of Quantum Frequency Standards since its setting-up.

In addition, Professor Huang guided experiments in person in the lab, and discussed for several times the problems arising during relevant experiments with the members of the Group of Quantum Frequency Standards. On the day of 28, he gave a splendid report on Single Laser-cooled trapped Ion Optical Frequency Standards and Optical Clock in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of NTSC’s Scientific Research Building. In the report, Professor Huang reviewed the developing history of time-frequency standard, expounded optical clock – the cutting edge in this domain, and finally envisioned the developing trend in this regard.

After the report, he answered the questions raised by the participants, and shared his precious experience with the researchers. At last, he showed his hope that the young scientific researchers scale new heights in the field of science and technology with diligence, braveness in making innovations and earnest & down-to-earth attitude.
