Munich Satellite Navigation Summit 2017 was held in Munich, Germany from March 14, 2017 to March 16. The theme of this year is “GNSS,is it Time to Back Up?” Representatives from China, the European Union, the United States, Russia, Japan, India and other countries and regions, more than 200 experts and 11 companies attended the meeting. Prof. Xiaochun Lu, the deputy director of National Time Service Center, Prof. Haibo Yuan, and Prof. Decai Zou attended the summit as the members of Chinese delegate group.
Representatives of international organizations and institutions, including Entrepreneurship and SMEs of European Commission, ESA, European GNSS Programmes, National Coordination Office, National Time Service Center, GSA, DLR, etc., were invited to attend the opening plenary, which theme is Satellite Navigation in a changing political and technical environment. Prof. Xiaochun Lu was invited to make a general statement on behalf of the Chinese delegation, and answered some questions of the chairman.
As the head of Chinese delegate group, Prof. Xiaochun Lu organized delegation members and attended all of the sessions of this summit. In the session of GNSS Program Updates, held in the morning of March 15, 2017, delegates of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS and EGNOS introduced the program updates. Chinese delegate group gave a report named as “BDS system update”, which demonstrated the results of the BeiDou system construction, application and international cooperation, the latest progress and the next phase of the plan. And experts were attracted with wide attention by this report.
This summit set up BeiDou Session that was held in 2 p.m. of March 16 and lasted for about 75 minutes. The theme of this session was “BDS, serve the world”. Prof. Xiaochun Lu and Prof. Xingqun Zhan from Shanghai JiaoTong University worked together as the co-chairs of this session. Prof.Haibo Yuan gave the speech of “Time Difference Monitoring between BDT and the other GNSS Time”. And Prof. Decai Zou made a report named as “A Technical Experiment and Validation Platform for GNSS”.
In the morning of March 17, experts of ICG Working Group B participated in SSV meeting in Bundeswehr University Munich. Prof. Xiaochun Lu and Prof. Decai Zou attended the meeting, and discussed SSV simulation results, SSV booklets with other suppliers.
