Professor LIU Haiwen, vice president of East China Jiaotong University, visited NTSC

From Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2016 professor LIU Haiwen, vice president of East China Jiaotong University, visited NTSC at the invitation of Dr. LUO Jintao. During this visit professor Liu delivered an academic presentation, had discussions with who were of interest and paid a visit to NTSC’s Haoping observatory. 

With that presentation, which was delivered in the afternoon of Nov. 30, professor LIU reviewed the RFI problems in the radio observations and the history of RFI mitigation techniques. Then the recent progress with RFI mitigation, especially achievements made by his team, was presented to the audience. Their work on RF & Microwave circuits and array antennas was covered as well.  

Professor Liu’s visit to NTSC’s Haoping observatory happened in the second day. He discussed with people on the site about the local radio environment and possible improvement of the telescope’s capability with the help of RFI mitigation techniques.
