It is recently learned that NTSC is on the list of the first 61 units selected as Nationwide Bases for Primary and Secondary School Students' Popular Science Education and Social Practice, published and issued jointly by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology.

NTSC shoulders the missions for generation, maintenance and dissemination of Chinese standard time signals, for which the timing system is an indispensable basic project and social public welfare facility for China. In addition, NTSC has long been adhering to using existing technology resources to carry out astronomy and science education and social practice activities among primary and secondary schools as well as various social circles, in which remarkable social efficiency has been achieved.
