Recently, seven departments, namely, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, National Natural Science Foundation of China and China Association for Science and Technology jointly released the name list of state-level candidates of the “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in the New Century 2009”, and Researcher Zhang Shougang of The NTSC is in the list.

In 2002, the seven ministries and commissions initiated the “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in the New Century” based on the needs of technological and economic developments of the country and for the purpose of training a batch of leaders and backup at different levels for trans-century science and technology, and the state-level candidates are elected every two years.

Since the NTSC implements the talent strategy of “refining technological objectives, improving innovation ability, stabilizing and bringing into proper play of existing talents, training and attracting excellent young talents and driving the talent training with projects”, a science and technology team with young scientists as the mainstay has been established, who have made a batch of outstanding achievements. The election of Zhang Shougang as a state-level candidate of the “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in the New Century” is another great achievement of NTSC with respect to implementation of medium- and long-term technological development planning of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, further improvement of independent innovation ability and training & development of high-level professional technological talents. We will continue to work harder to create a good atmosphere, enhance the training of talents and arouse innovation zeal and creation vitality of technological personnel.
