On Mar. 31, 2007, amid-term appraisal meeting of “Research on the New Generation of Low-frequency Time-code Time Service System”, an orientation project of knowledge innovation of the Academy was held in the NTSC by the Bureau of Basic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The meeting was presided over by Hao Jinxin, Director of the Shuli Astronomical Division of the Bureau of Basic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; the leader of expert group appraisal was Ye Shuhua, an academician and a senior time-frequency expert in Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, and members of the expert group were researcher Jin Duo, Professor Li Ding, researcher Zhai Zaocheng and researcher Wang Yulin.

Wu Guichen, a researcher and principal of the project, made a detailed report on the further development of the project and the arrangement of next stage. The research on low-frequency time-code time service system and technology serves as an important extension of the long-wave time service technology in China. Due to the fact that the low-frequency time-code time service signal combines the characteristics of analog and digital signals, it exactly supplements the current time service system with its extensive applicability. At present, some valuable progress has been achieved in the research on the innovation and practicality, and part of results has helped bring us to the world-leading position in this research on this field. This is fully proved by the internationally flourishing development in this field and the importance attached by the new research subject of ITU-R to this direction, and the experts unanimously believed that the direction adhered to was right. In addition, the experts also proposed many constructive suggestions to the problems existing in the research.
