On Mar. 31, 2007, an appraisal meeting on the concluding acceptance of “Research on Establishment and Maintenance of JATC”, an important orientation project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was organized and held in Xi’an National Time Service Center by the Bureau of Basic Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The expert group of the project acceptance was composed of experts in the field of time-frequency from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Headquarters of the General Staff, Beijing University, etc., with Ye Shuhua, an academician as the group leader. The expert group of appraisal listened carefully to the work summery report of the project group and the report of research on the development and application of hydrogen atomic clock; after questioning, discussion, on-site inspection on the laboratory, the expert group of acceptance concluded that the project group had fulfilled all the research items specified in the assignment paper completely, achieving or exceeding the expectations. In the light of the importance of this work to the national defense security and information society and taking into the consideration of the existing solid foundation on the research of time-frequency in China, the expert group suggested that relevant national departments shall continue to support the research work in this regard, establish a genuine atomic time-frequency system of importance for meeting the demands domestically and internationally. At last, the expert group of appraisal agreed that this project passed the acceptance.
