“Astronomy 100 Hours” ——National Time Service Center(NTSC) is in Action

From April, 4th to 5th,NTSC located in Lintong district of Xi’an welcomed more than 1200 students and the public.NTSC has opened Time Reference Laboratory and Lishan Astronomy Station and has arranged many experts in providing on-site explanations.

This year is the first “International Astronomy Year”, International Astronomy Organization schemes a series of astronomy activities, among which “Astronomy 100 Hours” is a global project. During April, 2nd to 5th, 130 countries all over the world will hold over 1500 astronomy science popularizing activities. It is estimated that about 1 million people will take part in.

Thte NTSC is an important astronomy institution in China. In responding the proposals sponsored by International Astronomy Organization and Astronomy Association, apart from the “Astronomy 100 Hours” activity, a collection of activities in 2009 on the topic of “International Astronomy Year” will be launched by NTSCat the same time, such as “Total Solar Eclipse on July, 22nd”, “Star Observing on Double Seventh Festival”, “Appreciating the Glorious Full Moon on Mid-Autumn Day”, “The October, 30th Astronomy Day” , etc.
