Recently, in order to ensure transfer of orbit for Apstar 6C, NTSC offered high precision orbit by using the technology of orbit determination by transfer tracking (ODTT) ,which is new technology developed by NTSC.
On May 28th, APT Satellite CO. LTD. submitted a supplication to NTSC begged of offering Apstar 6C high precision orbit in nearly real time by using ODTT to ensure safety for transfer of orbit to replace Apstar 6 which has a serious failure.
With this task, a scientific group (Chen Liang, Cheng Xuan, Lei Hui etc.) from Orbit and Time Transfer Department, NTSC completed the mission quickly and supplied the high precision orbits after 4 hours and 6 hours respectively. The orbits provide a reliable data to support for Apstar 6C orbit transfer. It shows that researchers in NTSC have excellent research level, selfless spirit of assistance and rigorous style of work.
APT Satellite CO. LTD. mailed a letter of thanks to NTSC on July 10th. They consider that they could resume the satellite daily task and won the praise of global satellite operators and it has to thanks NTSC for the effort.
