Dr. Dong Shaowu obtained the Wang Kuancheng Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Western Scholars of Chinese Academy of Sciences

Dr. Dong Shaowu, a researcher of NTSC, obtained the first created Wang Kuancheng Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Western Scholars of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Commendation Meeting and the winner’ forum held on in May, 23-24, 2008. The executive vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences Bai Chunli attended the meeting and awarded the certificate to the winner. Only are there 20 persons obtained the Wang Kuancheng Award and 70 persons obtained the Lu Jiaxi Young Talents Award in Chinese Academy of Sciences.  The director of Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation Wang Kaiyan and Wang Pengyan and the executive vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences Bai Chunli attended the presentation and forum. Mr. Wang Kuancheng, a well-known entrepreneur in Hong Kong, funded 100,000,000 U.S. dollars to create the Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation in 1985. The aims of the foundation are to train advanced scientific and technological talents for China, and to support the scholars from Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to carry out their post-doctoral research and academic exchanges. In 1987, with former president of Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Lu Jiaxi ‘s personal concern, the Wang Kuanchen Education Foundation decided to set up the Chinese Academy of Sciences Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation awards.
